James Bond 007
James Bond 007 is a British spy fiction franchise created by Ian Fleming in 1953. It is one of the longest-running media franchises in history. The character is a Secret Intelligence Service agent known by the code number 007, and he has appeared in 25 Eon Productions films, dozens of novels, and more than 30 video games. The franchise spans film, television, books, games, and music, and has grossed over $7 billion worldwide.
Six actors have played Bond in the Eon film series: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. The franchise is currently controlled by Amazon MGM Studios, after the Broccoli family stepped back from creative control in 2025.

James Bond is a spy. He works for British intelligence. He travels to exotic places, wears nice suits, drives fast cars, and stops villains who want to destroy the world. He drinks martinis. He says his name a certain way. He always survives.
That is the surface. Underneath, Bond is a fantasy about competence. He is the person who always knows what to do, who walks into a room full of danger and walks out without a scratch, who is charming when he should be afraid. People do not love Bond because he is realistic. They love him because he is the version of themselves they wish they could be in a crisis.
The franchise has been running since 1953, which means it has outlived the Cold War that spawned it. It has survived bad films, changing tastes, and multiple reboots. Every generation gets its own Bond. That is why he endures.
